In her multidisciplinary art and design practice, E. S. Kibele Yarman uses thread, stitching, and negative space as her materials. Her interventions—sometimes on fabric, sometimes on paper—refer at times to collective memory and at other times to her personal memory. Shaped by the rhythm of scissors or needle and thread, these surfaces create a reflective language rather than being merely decorative, structural, or explanatory. The artist conceives the texts in her works as a mechanism of self-recording. As these texts are embroidered, the letters transform into forms, creating images that point to atmospheric elements.
